I don't know why but getting back 'into the swing of things' after the long (lovely) holiday break has been a challenge for me. I have been feeling stressed, like I have way too much going on and feeling the need to cut back on something. However, on my drive home today I was reminded of the 33rd sutra (in the 2nd pada, or chapter) from the Yoga Sutras on Patanjali- it states that when disturbed by negative thoughts, positive ones should be thought of (vitarka badhane pratipaksa bhavanam). Could it really be that easy? Can I feel less stressed just by thinking about how much I love the things I am doing? Give it a try sometime- I found extremely helpful and while I am still tired and readjusting to my schedule I feel good about what I am doing. There are very few things on this earth that I would rather do than yoga and I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by yoga as much as I want to be. Rather than feeling too busy, I feel blessed to have something in my life I enjoy so much.
*the yoga sutras are probably the most important yoga text. I highly recommend reading them if you have not, and if you have- read them again :) . If you have questions on them feel free to ask me, there are many translations and they all offer something different.
