Happy Summer! New month, new themes and more!

July Newsletter

The first full month of Summer is here! This month on the mat we will be exploring backbending. Summer is natural time of opening- opening our hearts to friends and family for BBQs and outdoor events and enjoying the beauty and gifts of the great outdoors. Backbending helps us tap into our heart center, that part of us that is receptive to the world, that is responsible for giving and recieving love. With open hearts we are free to live a happpy fulfilling life. In the physical body, backbends strengthen the muscles along the spine and open the front of the body, they are perfect counterposes for sitting at a desk or driving in a car, or many of the other activities in our lives that round the spine forward. Backbends are also super useful for releasing tension in the neck and shoulders and de-programming our bodies from carrying tension and stress in these areas.

This year's Living Yoga Yogathon has come to an end- thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered their time. It was so wonderful to be involved in fundraising for such a worthy cause. This was the first year I was involved and I look forward to many, many more.
