Some Thoughts on Patience and Yoga

“Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first.
Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.”


 Yoga is not a quick fix, it will not change your life instantly, it is sticking with the practice over time that brings us results beyond just being stronger and more flexible.  Showing up on your mat, regardless of whether or not you 'want' to be there is what is important and your work will be rewarded.


Yoga itself is a lesson in patience- you must meet yourself where you are and not where you think you 'should' be.  You must stick with it to make progress but have compassion for yourself and give yourself time.  Change will come, that is guaranteed; perhaps not quickly or in the form you thought it would come but it will come nonetheless. 


So take a deep breath and know that you are where you need to be, both in your practice and in your life.  Take some time to listen, and trust that the answers will come.
