Happy New Year

The holidays are over (hope they were filled with love and light for all of you), and while I am not sure how I feel about 'New Year's Resolutions' I do think this is a good time of year to reflect.  What worked last year, what do I want to continue this year, is there anything I felt was lacking that I could expand on?  I like to think of a few intentions for myself to carry with me throughout the year- no hard fast rules to live by because then I am just setting myself up for dissapointment but more some guidelines and perhaps a few small changes that are easy to put into use.

For example- maybe adding onto my home yoga practice by just a few poses and see how it changes things (or even starting a home practice, even once a week), perhaps something as simple as listening more, taking things in.

My big intention for this year- exploring and enjoying the city where I live, we hear so many complaints about Los Angeles (too big, smoggy, traffic, and the list goes on) but there is a lot worth exploring here.  Great Yoga teachers and studios, sunshine most of the year, the ocean, the restaurants, the farmer's market... and again, the list goes on.  So that is my intention for this year, now I have it in writing (always makes if feel more real, doesn't it?) and I plan to come back to it every now and then and see what has shifted, what I have learned.  And to start things out- yesterday my husband and I made our way to the HOLLYWOOOD sign, we've lived here 5 years and had never gone before.  It was pretty fun and the sunlight is beautiful up there.

May your 2010 be filled with love, peace, yoga, good health, good friends and good food.

Peace and light,
Kaitlyn
