October 24-30: The Beginner's Mind

Teaching Schedule

Monday 7:30pm, The Yoga Space (SE), Vinyasa
Thursday 7am, The People's Yoga (N), Morning Flow

For all you SE folks, I am teaching Monday (that is tonight) at the Yoga Space at 28th and Stark.  This is my first class at this studio and I would LOVE to have you there.  We will move a bit, sweat a bit and have plenty of time to calm down and rest before you head home.

Very exciting news for all you early risers out there- starting on Nov. 2nd (next Wednesday) I will be teaching in St. John's at 6:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 7am on Thursdays- that is 4 days a week!  Practicing in the morning helps wake you up for the entire day, it is such a great feeling to get to lunchtime and realize you have already done your practice, no need to squeeze it into your already busy afternoon.  So come and join me!  It will be great fun.

For you not so early risers I will also be starting a class at Exhale (16th and Alberta) at 10am on Fridays.  Space is limited so please arrive early.  I know there were a few people that didn't get into class class last Sunday- please try again!!

As I've begun building my new schedule here I've been trying to take time to explore all the different neighborhoods and fun places in Portland.  We've had a bit of sun so I've been mostly exploring on foot and bike, which is the best way to see this town, I miss so much looking out the window of a car.  I've been having a great time getting to know this new city.  When I first started teaching yoga I talked to a lot of teachers about 'beginner's mind' and how great it was to be open and willing to take in new information and try new things.  As we become more seasoned practitioners it can be easy to just fall into what we know and close ourselves off to different ideas and poses (I know I have been guilty of this) and it is at these times I try to take myself back to a time where all of this was new.  Life here in Portland seems to keep reminding me to relax and explore and see what is possible.  Every moment here holds the possibility of becoming something wonderful, and I am trying to bring that to my mat with me everyday.
