Wow!! Thanks to everyone who made it to the Detox and Recharge workshop in Redmond at Discover Yoga this weekend-we had a great time and I hope to do it again soon!
Since moving to Portland in October, I've been trying to find a schedule for taking classes that I can stick to. I've taken from lots of great teachers and have found some nearby studios that are easy for me to get to but I have yet to find a weekly schedule that I've wanted to commit to. After 6 years in Santa Monica I had the teachers and times worked out so that I could get to my five classes a week and not feel stressed by my schedule. I have begun to realize this last week or so that there are pros to both situations. It is fun to take from new people and explore new studios and not be quite sure what kind of practice I will be getting when I roll out my mat at the studio. It has also challenged me to get serious about my home practice again. The five studio classes a week I went to in California were wonderful but I did not have any sort of home practice, I just didn't feel like I needed it. I am still working towards a balance, finding a class and teacher that I can commit to most every week, it is nice to have some routine but has also been refreshing and inspiring to shake things up a bit.
Speaking of Santa Monica- I am headed there next weekend (hence not teaching my Friday evening class) for a visit and to practice with one of my favorite teachers- Annie Carpenter- Annie's approach is strong and stabilizing- her classes are a beautiful balance of challenge and grace and it has been over 2 years since I have had a chance to be in her class, I am very much looking forward to it.
