I've been working in our veggie garden a lot this week, something about working in the dirt just makes me so happy.  Now that everything is starting to sprout I'm dreaming about all the feasts we will be able to enjoy as a result of our time out there and it got me thinking about tapas.  No, not the spanish small plate kind, the sanksrit word for tapas which translates to heat or discipline.  Each time I get on my mat I put myself in challenging, sometimes uncomfortable positions to build tapas in order to clear my mind and find some stillness, that in turn leads me to keep focused on my life and what I want it to be, it makes me happy.  When I go out into the garden and weed and plant and make sure everything has enough water (which hasn't been a challenge this spring) I am building tapas, taking time out of my day to nurture the garden which in turn will grow and bring happiness to all it feeds.  I never stop being amazed by how a yoga practice can bleed off the mat and into our every day lives, sometimes in ways we don't even realize.

I want to thank the lovely ladies over at GJ who I had the pleasure of working with the last few weeks.  I had such a great time with all of you and I hope to see your smiling faces again soon. Each office setting I teach at has something new to offer, we had a great time working with what was around us and creating a class that allowed everyone to move a bit and use the office setting, chairs, desks, etc to help deepen and find new ways to practice.  It is my sincere hope that some of the poses we practiced together will become part of the daily routine.

This week I started subbing at Yogalife Queen Anne, I'll be there a few times in June, it is a beautiful studio, full of light and warmth, if you are in the area come check it out!  I'll post my classes as they are scheduled.

Have a great memorial day weekend everyone, I am off for a few days of camping in the woods and will not be teaching Restoratives on Sunday evening, the amazing Claudette will be subbing for me (thank you Claudette).
